I'm struggling a little bit for a topic today. Getting those end of school blahs I guess!
Is anybody out there using Thinking Maps?
Our district has adopted them. So far, we have attended several trainings. In addition, we are doing on-line trainings for them. Now, they want us to attend a 3 day summer training (paid at least).
Sounds pretty grim--another silly thing being foisted upon us poor, unsuspecting teachers.
Thing is, I kind of like them. I find myself falling into using them sort of naturally as part of the note-taking process. I've also used them to help organize my ideas for lesson planning. I haven't run into anyone else who uses them for math, so it is hard to get any real feedback or ideas.
One funny thing was I found this hashtag on twitter (#TMChat) that has a logo for their chats and under the hashtag, it clearly says Thinking Maps Chat. You can hardly blame me for thinking they are probably chatting about thinking maps here... Well, they are talking about education... They just never seem to mention actual thinking maps. I'm still too twitterfauxpasphobic to go on there and say Whaa?
If you have ever used them or have any ideas for me, drop a note!
